📘 Guide: Self-Help Groups & Contact Points
Placement in group offers for mutual support in cases of chronic illness, addiction, or social problems. Contact points (e.g., SEKIS) provide infrastructure and networking for affected persons who are experts in their own cause and exchange ideas beyond professional hierarchies.
Important Note
Supplement to Therapy: Self-help is a strong network but does not replace medical treatment.
Steps
- 1Use self-help as a supplement to therapy.
- 2Participate mostly free of charge and anonymously.
FAQ
▶What does "Senior Counseling & Basic Security" mean?
Advice on organizing life in old age, housing adaptation, and financial security (basic security in old age under SGB XII, Chapter 4). Support with applications for exemption from co-payments and arrangement of leisure and meeting offers. Counseling Tip 1: Unlike social assistance (SGB XII, Chap. 3), basic security in old age (Chap. 4) does not involve recourse to children's income as long as it is below €100,000. Counseling Tip 2: Check claims for housing benefit as an alternative to basic security (often higher tax-free allowance).
